The first picture, on the left above, shows the entrance to the Youth Camp as seen from the approach to the camp on VA Route 638.  You will be driving down VA Route 638 next to the Shenandoah River, from the turn off from Route 50 just west of Paris, VA. For security of the camp, campers, and property owners, who share this private road, must  keep this gate closed and locked at all times.

The Pavilion area, second picture above, is the site of the annual Youth Camp Picnic. This is the area used for other picnics, meetings and other activities.

The third picture shows the Fire Pit and Flag Pole which is an assembly area and recreation green used by campers at the Pavilion.

The forth picture shows the first view of the Pavilion you will see when entering the Camp property.  The Pavilion has a stone fire place and picnic tables (see the third and forth pictures below).  There is a primitive latrine (outhouse-not pictured) nearby for the year round convenience of the campers.
The Pavilion area is great for Day Campers, who will not be spending the night. The Pavilion is about 1/4 mile down the hill from the Bath House and the rest of the Camp. It is one of the original buildings at the camp, and is maintained by the Springfield Franconia Host Lions Club.

The first picture, above, is a view of the Pavilion from the Fire Pond Bridge, which is shown in the next picture. The Fire Pond Bridge is a swing away bridge crossing a creek leading to the Fire Pond.  The bridge was built as an Eagle Scout project.  It is designed to swing away at one end, in the event of a flash flood, to prevent debris from taking out or damaging the bridge.
